Those Final Moments (April 16, 2016)

Empty words
From a hollowed out
Soul.

Beyond
Its best before date
For human interaction.

Who has seen
Too much violence
For a lifetime.

Walking
Through life
Like a zombie.

Just seeking
That final moment
Of true peace.

Where pain ends
And the flashbacks
Disappear.

Before taking
That final breathe
Of good-bye.

Contented
The troubled soul
Has found absolution.

  1. I love it when the words lead the way, perhaps when we are writing with our deeper selves. I well know that search for peace, and hope the narrator finds it decades before that final breath. Beautifully penned.

  4. Sometimes the remains is to have just a future and no past... hope for less of flashbacks...

  10. That second stanza is such a unique representation of feeling....never heard it voiced quite that way before and I appreciate that description....it's authentic and unusual but really hits as relatable.
