Dear Santa Claws;
My name is Venus
An eight month old kitten
My friend Therisa
Is writing this
Pen is too hard
To grip.
I wish you
Would bring me
Several Catnip filled toys
So i don't have to share
With my brother
Squeak.
Huge bottle of Catnip
Please pretty please
Totally love it
More salmon and sardines
Never get enough.
As Therisa eats
Most of the sardines
She's evil
But i love her.
Your friend
Venus
oxoxoxox
P.S. Santa
This is Venus' first Christmas
Could you make it
Special for her
Thanking you
In advance,
Therisa

This is super cute........you are lucky to have animals to share Christmas with......I do miss living with them. Sigh. Hope Santa is good to ALL of you this year, kiddo.
Oh so lovely... I wish you many good to you all... and that there are sardines for all of you.
That put a smile on my face, to replace the beautiful tears that Brendan blessed me with. Thank you! I hope you and Venus have a great Christmas...
Venus and Squeak--sounds like a title to a children's book. Glad you trotted out this gem. I once hung out with some dog poets who wrote from the canine point of view; a lot of good stuff emerged.
I like this observation by the kitten Venus: "She's evil
But i love her." I see kittens differently now.
Dear Santa, please bring Therisa, Squeak, and Venus lots and lots of sardines and toys. they are all most deserving of your kindness and please bring love and caring to all the little kitties and children of the world. Love, Toni
Yes please. Thank you Santa for the smiles and goodies!!!
Somehow I think all her wishes will come true!
"pretty please on the catnip" love it. Merry Christmas to Kittens and Their Humans across the land.
Christmas wishes for your kitten...so cute!
This is such a sweet poem, Therisa, which I read to our little cat, Mojo – big cat, Luna, is out hunting this morning. I love that you wrote a Christmas list from Venus’s viewpoint because the pen is too hard to grip! I shall be looking for cat presents tomorrow – you’ve given me a few ideas!
I hope you, Venus and Squeak have a brilliant Christmas!
Wishing you all the sardines you can eat :)
I like this too much to just click 'like'. It is charming without being cute or sentimental. An excellent attribute. Please scratch Venus behind the ears for me.
i want to cuddle Venus now and take away those sardine cans from evil Therisa, but she's not all bad that she has helped write this!
Dear Rallentanda
Therisa is being very mean to us
she is eating most of the smoked salmon
refuses to buy us fresh king prawns and barramundi
on a weekly basis
serves us cat food instead
she refuses to sleep on the floor
(she knows we like to stretch out diagonally across the bed
and she insists on taking up a quarter of it clinging
on to the edge trying to make us feel guilty)
we like her very much but
it would be better if she understood
just who is in charge of this household
Please have a word
Signed
Terisa's long suffering feline companions
Aw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope Santa brings enough sardines for everyone.
I often wonder what out animal companions would say about their world if they could speak. My dog would bemoan the fact we don't live where it snows everyday and probably wish for plush dog beds in every room of the house (he already has an upstairs and downstairs bed).
Venus, This is Harvey Cat - (Your human Therisa is a friend of my human Lona), I have stolen Lona's computer for a bit to tell you that I liked your poem, and I do think that Santa listens to cats, because, frankly, anyone who will not listen to cats is a jolly old fool, and his sled would not stay aloft if it were not for cats, don't ask why that it is a thing, but it just has to be, because of course, it just has to be, if it happens and it is good, there has to be a cat involved, I mean, that should be obvious. Just keep an eye on Therisa and those sardines, if she doesn't give you enough sardines, just climb up on her at 4 am and produces the sweetest most annoying purring that you can and knead away on her tummy. Just keep at it, she will figure it out eventually. If she does not move in 3-4 days, eat her, she does not have the same lovely fishy smell as sardines I am sure, but hey, a cat has to live, right? Anyway, santa may come through for you, if he doesn't let me know and I will get ah old of our pal up there, y'know Furbells, and she will yowl at him for the next 363 days, and he won't be able to do anything about it, because y'know his PR department would freak if it got around that he kickd a cat or something (I could just see it now, jolly old elf, yeah right). So Venus, we have the power, we have the dander, and we just have to be not afraid to use it. If you do have to eventually eat Therisa, start at the feet, for obvious reasons (cough cough). Anyway, Lona is heading this way, so I better stop and just turn to look at her with my regal baleful gaze, until she figures out that she has not given me the appropriate tribute today, without which her car won't start, I just know it, why would it? anyway good to meet you Venus. If you want to get to know me better, slide with cat-like supercilious grace on over to this link:

(Puur purr and all that)
Harvey Cat
Thank you, everyone, for kind and sometimes humorous response to this decade old poem. You have brought light and laughter to a time of darkness. Bless you, everyone. May your holiday season be filled with love and happiness.
