Dear Whomever;
Please help me
To understand
How being trans
And gay or lesbian
Is a lifestyle choice?
When children
As young as
Four years old
Are identifying
Themselves
As the opposite gender.
Who have
Never known
Anything
Beyond
Their heterosexual
Cis-parents.
Whereas
Religion is
Whether or not
You like it
Is a lifestyle choice.
Dictating
The food eaten
Clothes worn
And manner of worship.
While
Being gay or lesbian
The decision
To be flamboyant
Or not
Is a lifestyle choice.
And not
The collection
Of DNA markers.
Or
The accident hormonal
Backwash
During pregnancy
Make a lifestyle choice.

I agree Therisa...your points certainly prove it, and especially the lives that live it. Unfortunately humanity has a way of being frightened of what it does not understand. I think with more time more understanding will come. Thank you for this brave and beautiful poem.
Thank you, R.K, for your kind words.
Just trying to express my thoughts, in a honest way, Carrie. Have had the religious card played on me, too many time, by those blinded, by their believes.
Such a beautifully emotive write...!
I have never understood this idea of choice....and you beautifully articulate the idea that it is not a choice....wonderful!

the debate is ongoing. choice or born? I think both sides have equal-weighted arguments. thanks for asking the question in the first place.
Lifestyle choice must involve 1) strength, 2) contentment and 3) happiness within in spite of adversity. Nice and strong lines.
