Refuge (April 12, 2017)

Release from reality
Escaping abuse/bullying
Finding new heroes
Unlocking the past
Growing as a person
Emitting light from darkness.

Author's note: It started with The Hardy Boys, and grew from there, my love affair with books and the printed word. Many, a night, were lost to a book, as I had to finish it, before, being able to turn off the lights and let sleep claim me.

YES! Refuge! That is the word that was evading me. For me, too, books have been escape, refuge, enlightenment, inspiration. I love this poem, Therisa. I like the new look of your blog, too.

I'm glad you at least had books as your refuge. I like this poem. Very nice.

Ah - I used to love, love, LOVE the Hardy Boys. I think for many of us books were a great escape. Those book heroes were so important to us, weren't they? I hope you still find refuge in books. I know I do. I fall asleep with a book nightly.....a way to escape trumpism which fills the news. If it were not for a book, I don't think I could fall asleep. Smiles.

Many people will agree with agree how important books are for releasing the reader from reality and realizing that other worlds are out there to discover.

Your experience is mine too!

Actually, I think your explanation is another poem ... I like the detail it gives. The acrostic--Refuge--is also insightful. We keep telling our truths.

Awesome acrostic!
