Joys Of Insomnia (May 9, 2016)

Weary
My tired brain
Tries to focus
On the task
At hand.

As my fingers
Keep on missing
Their proper keys
To type.

Creating
One huge dyslexic
Puzzle
To decode
And unscramble.

Do I
Move the mouse
Over this mess
And delete it?

Or
Save it
For a later time?

By attempting
To apply
Some sense of order
To brain-fogged creation
Of mine.

As I hear
My pillows calling
Like the Siren
Of Greek mythology
To my bed.

Shall I surrender
Any hope
Of a night's rest
Is gone
For tonight.

Cursing me
To another night
Of a brain
Stuck
In overdrive.

Author's note: As a child, I've experienced, a chronic problem, of falling to sleep, which has worsen, over the years, with the PTSD flashbacks, and 3 feline companions, who want my love and attention, at the oddest hours. A good night's sleep, means 6-7 hours of uninterrupted rest, if I'm lucky.

To Reboot, Or Not To Reboot? (April 5, 2016)

www.pinterest.com
A weary soul
Does bleed
Upon the screen
Before you.

In seeking
The need energy
To do
Life's little things.

Wanting
But failing
To generate
A new idea
Or two.

As if
My mind is
Stuck
In neutral gear.

Watching
The world
Moving by me
At warp speed.

And yet
So many thoughts
Circulate
In my mind.

Crying out
For their release
From the mental prison
That entraps them.

Would
A system reboot
Partial or otherwise
Unlock the prison gates
Freeing these prisoners
Of mine.

Wish
I knew
One way
Or another.

To silent
This bedlam
Within my mind.

Once
And for all.

Author's note: Last night, was a brutal night, sleep-wise, for me. As I struggled to find, that mental sweet spot, for my brain, to shut down, and rest. Stirring awake, at the slightest touch, from the little ones (Venus, Squeak and Star), upon my body. Right now, am struggling to function, in what passes, as a normal manner.

Monday 2:17 (March 7, 2016)

Another night
Of broken sleep
And half formed poems
Fill my consciousness.

Silently
My body's protests
Are ignored
Once more.

As
The perpetual motion engine
My brain
Won't shut down.

Blink of the eye
My mind has leaped
From the past
To the present
And back
Again.

Without
Any temporal interruption
To my thought patterns.

As if
The very concept
Of a time continuity
Is meaningless.

With the blurring
Of time
Between night/day
Past/Present
And sleep/consciousness.

Know
This must stop
For the sake
Of my health
And sanity.

But
I feel
So powerless
To stop it.

Short of
A complete system
Failure.
