It sadden me
Having to write this
After the tragic massacre
Of Orlando, Florida.
As
Conflicting emotions
Fill my soul.
Not sure
How I should vent
These strong emotions
In a positive way.
Without
Harming myself
Or other innocents
With their release.
Knowing
I must do so
To start
My own healing.
Although
Not a victim
Of this tragedy
Directly.
Yet
I do feel
So very guilty.
Having survived
My own series
Of violent
Of violent
Transphobic/homophobic
Encounters.
Wondering
Why I have survived
Where they didn't.
And
Does this guilt
Ever disappear?
A question
I have
No answer
For.

The LGBT community must be feeling this even more than the rest of us, Therisa. I havent been able to summon the words, as it is just happening too often. I do not think AK 47's, weapons of war, should be available to the general public. The one fact I can grasp out of the conversation that is now going on (again) about another mass murder.
Sherry, the best way, to describe, how the Orlando massacre is being felt, within the LGBT+ community, is 9/11, for the straight community. As it has really hit us, hard. This close to the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.
I too understand the guilt.. though I think the guilt should be put on the haters... but I guess they cannot feel anything not relating to their own self righteousness.
Sending hugs.
