Can feel
Your slow ascent
Upon my defenses.
Poking and probing
For any opening
Which your talons
Can rip my soul
Apart.
Fighting against
My impulse to flee
To anywhere
But here.
As I hear
The panting of
Your hounds pursuing
As they lunge
And nip my heels.
Tripping me
As my feet stumble
Over each other.
Wiping
My bloody hands off
On my shredded jeans.
Knowing
It means death
To stop
And surrender.
Even if
I run out of space
Which I can tread.

There is stark futility trapped in your poem, written from your soul, simple written yet very powerful
much love...
Sometimes learning to stay is the hardest thing. Have you ever read Pema Chodren?
Ay, this makes me feel anxious to read it. I hope you/the narrator were able to move beyond this point and clear of the attacks. Anxiety is such a burden.
I agree, with you, Paul. Until, you asked me, I have never heard of Pema Chodren, I must admit, and did a search on her. Have had therapist, who have been influenced, by Buddhist teaching, and have taught mindfulness breathing techniques, to me.
Thank you, Gillena. Have found the simplest written poem, can be, the hardest one, to read. For I am not trying be clever, by confusing, whoever read my poems, rather, share my experiences and emotions, what I writing about.
Thank you, Marian, for your expressed concern. As for myself, I have good and bad days, depending, on what I have to do. I try to avoid those stressful triggers, like taking public transit during rush hour, whether it's morning or afternoon hours, when travelling.
Oh wow! This has reminded me of many days that I feel I need to run away from the fears that follow me. Very powerful writing! I love this.
I feel for you.. hope anxiety stays clear of your path.
Wow, the title itself says so much, and the poem recreates the fear almost beyond my bearing.
we each have those blood days. that you can write of it here testifies to your courage ~
Very powerful words, one of your best writes (I think). Thank you.
Kind regards
