In derogatory/stereotypical roles
How society views us.

We're too butch or femme
Hiring a cisgender actor/actress
For the role.
Give me
A bleeping break!
Haven't we learn anything
From the struggle
Of gays and lesbians
For mainstream Hollywood
Acceptance?
Coming out
Career deathblow
Hollywood’s dirty secret
As A list stars
Hid their true selves.

Using straight performers
Or soft pedalling gay involvement
Blurring possible blowback
From anti-gay public.
A 19th century industry
Trapped in the 21st
Without a clue
To make jump forward.
Still fighting
Against women
And minorities
Having an equal voice.
At this rate
Give or take
Fifty years
True equality is possible
In the year 2450 ce.
