Am Leaving (June 10, 2017)

I'm leaving
On a Go bus*
With my bags
All packed.

Don't know
Where I'm heading
At the end.

Except that
My heart will tell me
When.

With heavy heart
I buy my ticket
Awaiting the boarding call
To all points
But here.

Am leaving
On a Go bus
With my bags
All packed.

Don't know
Where I'm heading
At the end.

Wiping away
These tears of sadness
At the parting
Of our love.

At the knowledge
Your love has died
In becoming hate
Towards your eldest child.

Am leaving
On a Go bus
With my bags
All packed.

Don't know
Where I'm heading
At the end.

Please understand
My love for you
Has never waived.

But can't wait
Forever
For your heart
To change.

Am leaving
On a Go bus
With my bags
All packed.

Don't know
Where I'm heading
At the end.

Author's note: Ten years ago, on June 3, 2007, I walked out my apartment, in Brampton, Ontario, for the last time, as I headed to, a woman's homeless shelter, in Toronto, Ontario. Marking the beginning of a new chapter, in my life, as a woman. And, the beginning of a new chapter, for; A Work, In Progress, a prose piece of writing, I have started, earlier this month, on my new blog: taggrrl.blogspot.com. Hopefully, this latest chapter will be done, soon, I can post it up, with the first chapter.

Wish to thank, the late John Denver, for his song, Leaving On A Jet Plane, as the inspiration, for this lyrical poem of mine. Like an earwig, this song played, in my mind, as I wrote this. I hope this poem does justice to him.

It is sad when parents don't trust their children to live their own lives, to make their own decisions in life and most importantly let them go with love.

I can feel saddness in your piece and I hope you'll find or have have that place. I did also feel a lyrical rhythm to your pome and I could hear an acoustic guitar accompanying this song. I think it would accept good cresendo and diminuendo well. I must say I did enjoy reading it at and can see where the inspiration came from.

I do feel the strength in this poem, Therisa. It seems you don't know exactly where you are heading, but know you are heading in the right direction. I took a short visit to your new blog. I commend you for telling your story, for being open and authentic and YOU.

New beginnings are a necessary thing, even when the endings hurt, hurt, hurt...

I feel the sadness in this parting and admire the strength in "I cant wait forever for your heart to change." I echo Mary in applauding you for telling your story, for helping raise awareness and understanding, for being true to yourself.

Hopefully you have reached a point in your life when you can let the past go and approach each day in a positive frame of mind!

This poem stirs the emotions and your use of repetition heightens the stirring. A poignant piece of writing.

wonderful exposition. change has never given me a preview of what's to come... giving me only an exit door. :)

This poem makes an equally sad song as John Denver's. Both you and he touch the heart with the pain of separation.

I know, Robin, it's part of life, we accept and find our way through it. No matter, how much we wish it, life is filled with challenges that we must overcome, to move forward.

Bless you, for your compassion and understanding heart, Robin. Would give you, a huge hug of thanks, in person, but must settle for a cyber one. <<<>>>

Thank you, Sumana, for words of guidance.

It works beautifully as a song. The echoes of the Denver one are apt. This is sad, yes, but the open ending is also triumphant.
