Apocalypse 2030 (February 5, 2017)

Mommy
I'm scared."

"Hush baby
I'm here
Always."

"Mommy
Do you think
We'll disappear
Like Jenn
And her family did?"

"Sweetie
I don't know."

"Mommy
Someone is breaking
Our windows."

"Come here
We must move
To our hiding spot
Pumpkin."

Author's note: An experiment of using just dialogue, to write this dark dyspotian poem, about a possible future US, where being transgender is, a capital crime, punished by death, for offending person, and those, around them. A future, which I hope, never occurs.

Goodness, that can never never be allowed to happen and there are enough good and decent people still around to ensure that. No way.

This reminded me of Valerie's story from V for Vendetta. That too is also set in a dystopian reality, which now more than ever seems too apparent. It's just so painful to see the progress made getting trampled upon so vehemently. I hope it never comes to do that.

Using only dialogue works perfectly – and sadly the meaning is very clear.

This is very chilling! So glad to see you writing again.

Using just dialogue is extremely effective here. I hope this never happens either. But with the rise of the right wing globally, other offences are likely, I am sad to say.

Sadly, Thotpurge, this can happen, in Western society, given the reaction to the "Red" menace, of the 1948 to the early 1960s, which destroyed many people's lives and careers. Especially, with the revival of more conservative religious believes, which tend to be less flexible to differentiating ideals and beliefs.

The use of only dialogue gives this a terse effect that accentuates the seriousness of the subject matter. I hope it never happens!

the dialogue does really work here--This is a chilling write!

Sherry, do you think, I was too heavy handed, in this poem? Already know, that most of eastern Europe is very anti-LGBT+, especially, Russia. While most of Asia, the Caribbean and Africa, are no go zones, for someone, like myself. In most part, thanks to socially and religiously conservatives American organizations.

During this session of SCOTUS, they will be hearing the case of a Pa trans-student, who has filed discrimination charges against a local school, for denying, the right to use the washroom, of their chosen gender. In the past, I would have said, that SCOTUS will rule in the trans student's favour, given the history of Canadian cases, that support the trans-community, on this issue.

But now, not sure, what the outcome will be, given the current political climate, in the United States. Will have the guts, to say "yes", to this student\s rights, and ignore the growing storm that's facing the US, over trans's right, on a broader spectrum.

A horrible imagining, an effective poem. I have to counter it immediately with its opposite. What we can imagine has power! Sending Light your way.

Sadly, for many trans-people, it's a reality, we face, on a daily basis, whether or not, the local authority are supportive. Where, I have faced several situations that I felt threaten, with death, from individuals, over the past decade, in the greater Toronto area. These occurred, in broad daylight, around noon time. Having to seek shelter, in public buildings, until I thought, it was safe, to come out and resume, whatever, I was doing before.

As for the date of 2030, it's about the length of time, I figure that this type of law, would require to past through the US legislature and justice systems, before this type of program is rolling out, and becomes active.

I do hope, my dystopian poem is, the worse case scenario, and never happens, but given the refocusing of the DOJ, away from White extremist to focus on Muslims, solely, is a worrying sign of things, to come, Susan.
